Other Reading Lists
My oldest will be in 3rd grade. I just ordered the first set of YWAM (books 1-5) for him. I may get some of the American Adventures series books from the library too. This summer for reading he’s been reading the Henry Huggins series but I think he’s bored with it now.
I’m not familiar with YWAM series; what does that stand for? Thanks for the suggestions!
Blessings!
My soon to be 3rd grade daughter loved The Magic Tree House series. Now she’s moved on to the American Girl mysterys. They are all historical fiction so she learns about other time periods similar to MTH
I’ll have to remember the American Girl Mysteries when my daughter is a little older; not so sure my son would like reading a series about girls, but you never know!
Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings!
This is a great list! We have not read the Magic Tree House series here yet. It is next on our list 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Heather!
Blessings!
Oh The Littles! I almost forgot about that book. Another great list!

Sure thing Marissa! Thanks for hosting the link up! I’m sure I’ll be linking up more once we get back into the school year.
Blessings!
we are going to be adding in the Grandma’s Attic series (same time frame-ish as Little House on the Prairie?), Heidi,Caddie Woodlawn, and Cricket on Times Square. And, if we find any new Bobbsey Twin or Boxcar Children as we’ve finished what the local library has to offer 🙂 My 2nd grader has read several on your list w/ her k12 curriculum this year- but I think I’ll have her finish out your list for our summer reading program- I see several on here that she hasn’t read yet!!
My son really loved The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary. There are 2 more books in the series but they aren’t as good as the first. He also really likes some of the classics that are made for kids in the Target dollar area. He read the Secret Garden and Treasure Island. I’m sure glad he read them in that order because he actually liked the Secret Garden, though not as much. If he’d read them in the other order I don’t think he would have given the Secret Garden much of a chance.
We have read a few of the Magic Tree House books. I was wondering about content on some of them from a Christian perspective, like #3 Mummies in the Morning. Does it talk about Mummies factually like King Tut or more fictionally like walking dead kind of stuff.
I’ve been buying MTH books, used here and there and have several now but my son would like to read them all in order. But we haven’t done #3 yet. What are your thoughts on it. Are there any that you would skip?
My daughter did the Magic Tree House books over the summer from first to second grade. She loved them – and the passport she could earn on their website (with reading comprehension questions included 😉 ).
This summer she is working through the Little House on the Prairie series. She started Little House in the Big Woods before school ended, read Little House on the Prairie, and moved on to Farmer Boy…each book she reads she completes reading comprehension questions (that I found online) as she completes chapters. 🙂
After the Little House series we’re going to move on to The Courage of Sarah Noble. 🙂
