I first tried this delicious dessert almost 20 years ago. When I tasted it, my taste buds were in heaven. I was at a Memorial Day picnic and I just had to find out who brought this amazing treat so that I could get the recipe.
Turns out, one of my good friends had brought it, and when she told me how to make it, I was floored. I couldn’t believe how simple it was to make.
And now I’m going to share with you this easy, and yummy dessert, that is perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients:
1 box chocolate cake mix & required ingredients
1 22 oz. bottle of caramel sauce (I used Hershey’s)
1 8 oz. container of Cool Whip, thawed
4 regular-size Butterfinger candy bars, chopped
Directions:
Bake cake according to instructions on the box. Let the cake cool briefly, like 5-10 minutes, and then poke holes evenly in the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon (or something similar).
Then drizzle the entire bottle of caramel sauce evenly over cake, making sure to get plenty in each hole.
Spread the thawed Cool Whip evening over cake and then sprinkle the chopped Butterfingers on top. The easiest way to chop the Butterfingers is to put them in a Ziploc bag and smash with a meat tenderizer.
And that’s it! Pretty simple, huh? Serve immediately and store any leftovers in the fridge.

Aww, this looks delicious! I’m getting hungry now 🙂
We love and make this cake too except the recipe I have calls for a can of sweetened condensed milk poured on top and in the holes along with the caramel sauce. We crumble 2 of the bars and put under the cool whip and the other 2 on top. Yum! It’s so good 🙂
